TOPIC: will NR be included in Darkroom, or separate?

will NR be included in Darkroom, or separate? 2 years, 4 months ago #3

Thank you for taking on this project, I like the look of things so far!
It is running fine though a bit slowly on my Athlon64 / winXP system.

I was curious as to your plans regarding noise reduction. Do you intend to add that to the Scarab Darkroom, leave it as a separate function outside Darkroom, or are you not yet to that decision point? Clearly you have plenty to do already! Thanks again, keep up the fine work.

Hi

My plan is to eventually create a professional version of Scarab Darkroom, while also maintaining a free version. Noise reduction will definitely be in the professional version. I haven't decided yet whether simpler noise filtering will make it into the free version. I'm not planning to remove any of the current functionality from the free version.

I'm surprised to hear about slow performance. It's much faster than any raw converter I tried on Windows. It can slow down if you don't have enough RAM. 2 gigabytes of memory is recommended.

Thanks for your thoughts on NR - I do have neatimage so can manage for now.

My system is A64 3200+ with 3GB. On startup Darkroom suggests an graphics-driver update, I do have an 'earlier version of ATI Catalyst'; hopefully updating that will improve matters.

The graphics-card update solved the problem of slow speed - thank you for detecting that in your startup routine!
