Vibrance ? 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|
|
|
Hello Kornel et al.,
I have been playing with Scarab since a few weeks and am very impressed - especially the highlight recovery seems to trump all other programs I have tried. Congratulations !!!
One observation on my Sony A700 pics is, that the Vibrance tool seems to work with full strength on skin tones which leads often to pretty unnatural results (yellow faces). AFAIK, (caucasian) skin tones are usually exempt from Vibrance modifications in other RAW converters. It seems that such an option in Scarab could be very helpful.
Best regards!

Hi,
Thanks for the compliments.
Someone has already mentioned this skin tone thing to me, but then I forgot about it.
I'll play with it a little and see if I can get satisfactory results.
Regards,
Kornel

Hi!
I implemented simple vibrance supression for skin tones the other day, but there is a huge problem with it. It's noise and things like freckles - these are not skin color. People end up having some realy ugly spots. So, I think the naive approach makes more harm than good. I put this aside for now. I do have an idea how to fix it, but it's quite elaborate and lots of work.
